Meditations from the Mat - Daily Blog-The Intro...

Updated: Oct 13

I received my copy of Meditations from the Mat by Rolf Gates and Katrine Kenison during Yoga Teacher Training in 2012. Teacher training undoubtedly set me on a path of spiritual awakening that felt, at times, like a whisper of an idea or, other times, like a hit over the head—and everything in between. As I reflect on all the work I’ve done since 2012, I realize that I came into this world already tapped into something profound, though I had little knowledge, language, or support to understand my gifts.

Like many of us learning and growing into our spiritual gifts, I often felt like an odd little kid, sometimes strange, frequently feeling like a fish out of water. I had a vivid imagination and loved everything purple and magenta—colors that now resonate deeply with various aspects of spirituality, from the angelic realm to ancient Egypt. Yet, I was often afraid of the dark because I SAW things. I was likely seeing my guardian or spirit guide protecting me from a childhood filled with upset, turmoil, and uncertainty exhibited by the adults around me, including my older siblings.

I experienced glimpses of my gifts coming “online,” as it’s often described today. After my father passed, I saw and heard him, which led me to willfully ask not to be psychic. For years, I went about my life as if I could turn it off. However, I’ve come to understand that what is meant to be will be; no amount of turning away from my soul’s plan will change that. It will unfold in divine time.

So, yes, as I write this today, I can say for several years now, timing has indeed been unfolding. I hear him and see him in dreams. I notice signs and synchronicities in numbers and birds. I meditate and journal daily, and this is one of those journals—or a form of it. The blog I’m about to write is inspired by the book that has resurfaced at a time when I’m growing into myself in numerous ways. Through my yoga teaching, my new business for energetic wellness, and my exploration of modalities like Reiki healing, Tarot, and Oracle cards, I’m discovering how they connect to so much more.

Connecting the dots has been a desire and mission of mine for over a year, which ignited my passion to create a website for my business and a new podcast. Each aims to connect people to one another and to information within themselves and the world around them. As I write this, I recognize there are no coincidences. The idea for this blog came to me just as I was waking up, as downloads from spirit often do for many of us. Lying in bed, I started connecting the dots about the day—it made me laugh at my spirit team’s brilliance: the first day of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. Much like the secular New Year, this is a time when we often create new habits and intentions. Given that it’s the Jewish New Year, I see this as a sign that my spirit team knows far better than I do—it’s the right time for me to write this down and create a daily blog and meditations from my own “mat,” through my words and experiences as a teacher and connector of dots.

I am here to be a teacher—and by “here,” I mean on this planet. I’ve had all my charts read: Astrology, Numerology, Human Design, and my Akashic Records. I am profoundly humbled and grateful to learn that my purpose for being here is to teach. Not just any teacher, but one who applies knowledge and experiences from my life thus far to speak, write, and teach in a way that resonates, connects, and inspires others in their own divine timing.

As I create my first official blog post in this category, I wanted to share the backstory of how and why I’m doing this. My intention is to honor this work and stick to the resolution of creating a daily blog. I know myself, and while I intend to do that, I also recognize the need to be realistic as a Gemini. Life gets busy, and I can easily go off on tangents. That’s all good and realistic! Regardless of my content creation schedule, I hope my words resonate. I also understand they may not always resonate with every reader, and that’s perfectly fine. They are my expressions, crafted from my heart, soul, and karma, and they’re yours to interpret, integrate, or set aside as you choose.

Thank you for taking the time to read this far! If you feel guided and inspired, please join me on my journey as I create blogs in this category and others I’ve already started and will continue to develop.

So let’s do this! Thanks for reading!
